Omg! I don't know WHY I haven't posted this yet!

My youngest daughter turned 4 just before Christmas and insisted on a butterfly cake. I can't tell you how proud I am of this cake! The only error was that I unwrapped pink fondant instead of white for one layer, but that was a punch that was super easy to roll with!

I was also really excited to put my Cricut Cake to work!

If I remember correctly, both layers were white, one had buttercream filling and one had peach filling.

Also, enjoy some other party photos!

Minnie Mouse! This time it's safari Minnie

The para pro for my daughter's class last year (whom I love! I love all the teachers she's had so far!), has an adorable little granddaughter who's name is similar to my daughter's. :)

Well the little cutie pie turned one this fall, and I was thrilled when I was asked to do the cake and cupcakes!

She loves Minnie Mouse and I think the whole family loves zebra print, so this was another fun cake!

The flavors were a simple white and chocolate, but delicious I was told!

Candy Land Carnival

My own daughter turned 7 in September. After turning down her requests for a cake that is a dolphin jumping out of a wave (smh), we compromised and decided on a candy land carnival-themed birthday party - and a candy cake to boot!

The cake had a virgin pina colada layer, a layer of white cake and peach filling, and the bubblegum machine was entirely white cake.

Toy Story June 2012

In June, I had the privilege of making a Toy Story-themed cake for two adorable little kids! I really had a lot of fun putting it together! If I remember correctly, one layer was pound cake, one was strawberry, and one was white?

St. Patrick's Day Pot of Gold Marshmallows

These are SO easy to make! Cake pops you have to mold and get the consistency right... etc... These are marshmallows! All of the molding is done for you! YAY!
The ingredients are easy, too:
  • Lollipop sticks (I found mine at Walmart, I used the short ones)
  • Regular size marshmallows
  • Chocolate candy melts
  • Yellow sugar sprinkles
  • Parchment paper
  • Something to hold the pots of gold - I used a USPS box that I made holes in
Start by laying out your parchment paper and then setting your marshmallows on them. Stick the lollipop sticks into the marshmallows so the stick is upright. I found that, because the flat sides of the marshmallows aren't even or level, if I held the marshmallow and stuck the stick in, once I set it down, it rarely stood up straight.

Melt your chocolate. The best way is with a double boiler. Directions for melting are on the packaging for the candy melts (also on chocolate chips if you choose to use those.) I don't have a double boiler and I hate using the microwave, it never turns out right for me. I used the next best thing: my ancient tiny crock pot! Turn it on low, add your chocolate and let it sit, stirring it with a DRY spoon, plastic if you have it..

Once the chocolate is melted, cover your marshmallow. You need to use the spoon to bring the chocolate up to the stick if your chocolate isn't very deep. The powdery coating on the marshmallow, that prevents the marshmallow from sticking to everything, also prevents the chocolate from sticking to the marshmallow. It will grab onto the stick and stick to itself, though. Place the chocolate covered marshmallow back on the parchment paper with the stick standing up again. Let the chocolate set.
If you time it perfectly, the part of the chocolate that was on the parchment paper will still be a little sticky and will hold the sugar. If not, melt a little more chocolate to put on top or moisten the "top of the pot" with a wet little paintbrush. Once the sugar is on, stick the pot of gold upright (sticks on bottom) into whatever you've decided to use to hold them. And that's it!

**To hold/present the pots of gold, you could use a container with floral foam in it, or what I did! I had a priority mail flat rate box that I closed up and covered with green tissue paper. I used a nail and hammer to make holes in one side. Because the holes quite wide enough for the lollipop sticks, I took one of the sticks and pounded it through the nail hole with the hammer.
